You know that pastry shop you pass by every day on the way to work but never go in? You smell the freshly baked goods, the sweet aromas of sugar and melted butter, and every time you pass it, you think, ‘I really need to try that place.’
For me, that place is Nuvrei on NW 10th and Flanders, and yesterday, WE WENT IN.
As a special Valentine’s Day treat, Phil and I decided to grab an early morning breakfast at Nuvrei. Smoked salmon quiche and almond croissant for me, ham and cheese croissant and lemon glazed cinnamon twists for him. Quite honestly the best quiche and croissant I have ever tasted. Light and fluffy, decadently flavorful, heaven on a plate.
The shop itself is quite small with only a couple of tables and a bar along the window. Most of the morning customers seemed to be regulars ordering their lattés and pastries to go. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant and rather…French. None of the fast-paced hustle and bustle you get in most coffee shops. Phil and I felt quite at ease indulging in a romantic, leisurely breakfast together, stealing kisses here and there.
