Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the opening of Jack Spade in my own neighborhood, Portland’s Pearl District. Cornered at NW 11th and Everett, Jack Spade Portland is one of only nine locations in the world, each of which is highly customized to the flavor of the city it inhabits. [In a nod to Portland's eco-friendly attitude (and weirdness), the Pearl store features a Venus flytrap stand, where you can purchase a living, potted Venus flytrap if you so desire.] The brand itself embodies Portland’s cool, laid-back aesthetic; style that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Sure it’s posh, but it’s utilitarian posh, perfectly suited to a city full of gentlemen who bike to work and appreciate a good tie clip. Be sure to check it out for yourself at 304 NW 11th Ave, or shop the collection online here.
Cuan Hanly (right), Jack Spade Vice President and Brand Director, came out to oversee the opening himself.
