5 THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND

1) Try a new fitness class

I am totally hooked on Turbo Kick, a calorie-torching cardio kickboxing class at 24 Hour Fitness (various locations). Get a free 3 day pass to the gym and try it for yourself, or attend one of the many other fitness classes available. Maybe I’ll see you there!

2) …or explore a new neighborhood on foot

Take advantage of a peaceful Saturday or Sunday morning and go for a leisurely run through a new neighborhood. Choose an area with cute homes, quaint shops, and not a lot of traffic lights. I stumbled upon one of my favorite consignment stores this way!

3) Get inspired by stand up paddlers

One night only at the Mission Theater (NW 17th and Glisan), join director Brent Deal at a screening of H2indO, a documentary that follows seven of the world’s best stand up paddlers to Indonesia for an inside look at the world’s fastest growing sport.

4) Spice things up in the kitchen

Impress your friends with the perfect steak or a delicious meal straight out of Morocco after honing your skills at a Sur La Table (NW 11th and Couch) cooking class. (Also great for date night.)

5) …or leave the cooking to the pros

The Bite of Oregon culinary festival opens on Friday at the Portland waterfront. Sample small and large plates from some of Oregon’s finest restaurants, food carts, and vendors in the $2 to $10 range.
